antique photographs

I found these old photographs in an antique book shop. These pictures tell an anonymous tale, and like old letters document a time in history, capturing a moment or thought. I would like to involve them in my work somehow as i feel that this photograph could be someones junk but another persons treasure, reflecting the project theme.

Kelly McCallum

"I am interested in the stories of how things age, how they decay or are preserved, are forgotten, covered in shrouds of grime, only to be found again and given new meanings by our own sentimentality. Taxidermy seeks to preserve life by celebrating death: it is a strange half-live, a suspension, an illusion."
Kelly McCallum
By using stuffed animals McCallum transforms death into a beautiful art work. Using stuffed antique taxidermy with expensive  embellishments create a new life.

screen printing

Week 4 of print making I used the silk screen technique again but with a printed image.
I took the original image from a picture in my sketch book .
I produced approximately 5 prints and i was happy with the outcome of my image. Silk screen printing gave it a unique finish that wasnt achieved in my original sketch.

in this print i tried adding another colour to the birds, although the colour hasn't stayed within the lines is still like the contrast it gives.

this was printed on the inside of an envelope, i like the contrast between the different shades of blue,  and feel it is relevant to our project as the used envelope was junk, however now it has been transformed into an interesting print.

i printed the image several times on brown envelopes, the contrast between the blue ink and brown back ground really makes it stand out.

Intaglio printing- etching

In this image i tried to print my image of stags over my original print. It can be seen faintly through the necklace pattern.
this left an indent of the necklace pattern on the tile which i etched in to create a design over the stags.

i then cut out the tile and printed the loose cut out, this wasnt very successful. i think the image needs the other surroundings to make it look complete.
